Fellow AMCI Members and BMC 2000 Inductees

The venue of the 2nd induction climb for BMC 2000 is Mt. Halcon in Mindoro Oriental. It will be on January 10 to 14, 2001.

The route will be Mayabig - Lantuyan.

DENR - PAWD in Baguio City told us that there are no set guidelines yet as far as climbing Mt. Pulog via Tawangan route is concerned. They said that we would have to talk to several people in Benguet beforehand to arrange for it all i.e., guides and fees.

The estimate of PHP 1,700.00 (add PHP 300.00 for food) could easily go up depending on the arrangements that would be made with them. Furthermore, DENR - PAWD would be just one of the LGU's and/or personalities that we have to deal with. This makes it more difficult in our part since some of them cannot be contacted by phone. We have to go there in advance.

With the holiday season just around the corner, and the year-end work rush, making the necessary correspondence in time for the target induction date would be a difficult task.

With the Mt. Halcon alternative, we only need to deal with the municipality of Baco, specifically with the local tourism officer who incidentally is the mayor's wife. Of course there is the customary courtesy call to HALM's.

Offhand, the cost is about PHP 700.00 (as of April 2000) but we will check the current rates.

Again the team leader will be Arnel Gabilan.

We ask all participants to step up their workout. Let us immediately address the physical fitness requirement of the induction climb. This way we can enjoy the mountain all the more.
